ACES Program

The A.C.E.S Team is comprised of individuals with a particular interest and skill in the field of amateur radio and a dedication to the Chino Community. Their unique expertise can provide the Police Department with auxiliary communications support for special events, critical incidents, natural and man-made disasters, and Emergency Operations Center activations and exercises. They serve a key role in assisting first responders and City officials in maintaining critical communications.

The A.C.E.S. program provides two levels of participation: Volunteer and Net Member. The A.C.E.S. Volunteer is a volunteer of the Chino Police Department organization. They may be called upon to assist in the Amateur Radio Room within the Police Department facility. They may be assigned to assist a first responder in the field or respond to a particular location in order to provide pertinent information to Incident Commanders or to the Emergency Operations Center. The A.C.E.S. Net Member is a member of the community who has an interest in amateur radio and is willing to be a point of contact during an emergency or critical incident.  A Net Member is someone who participates in weekly “nets” and may be invited to special events or gatherings hosted by the A.C.E.S. Team.

Qualifications for A.C.E.S. Volunteer: Application, interview, background investigation, polygraph exam, completion of Citizen Academy within 1 year, valid Technician’s License (minimum), hand-held and mobile amateur radio.
