ABOUT THE POSITION:

Crime Analysis Interns work alongside current Crime Analysts in the Crime Analysis Unit and the Real Time Crime Center.  Under direct supervision, performs a variety of routine clerical tasks,  prepares correspondence and reports; and, does related work as assigned. Must be available to work weekdays, weekends and holidays, with days and hours to be adjusted to meet the needs of the Department. Please see the essential functions below for specific details.  Crime Analysis Internship Program Applicants are required to be currently enrolled in a Crime and Intelligence Analysis program.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Chino Police Department Crime Analysis Internship Program Applicants are required to be currently enrolled in a Crime and Intelligence Analysis program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants possessing the required skills and qualifications will need to complete a City of Chino Application form.  Applicant's will be screened and oral interviews will take place.  Finalists for the position will undergo a thorough background investigation. Must possess a High School Diploma/G.E.D. and valid Class C California Driver's License. Satisfactory results from an extensive police background investigation, which includes a polygraph test, and an administrative review, are required.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Some of the tasks Crime Analyst Interns will be assisting with and or assigned to complete include:

    • Creating photo-line ups at the request of Investigators
    • Complete full workups on subjects of criminal investigations using law enforcement databases and other applicable open source applications
    • Assist with intelligence database entries
    • Creating specialized reports
    • Provide monthly specialized report to different bureaus within the police department
    • Creating Crime Bulletins
    • Attend any crime meetings, briefings and regional association meetings
    • Assist Investigators with managing Pawns
    • Assist with ESRI Mapping
    • Go on ride-a-longs with patrol officers and other investigative units
    • Learn social media skills and utilize open source to gather intelligence
    • Assist with managing crime registrants
    • Assist with data downloads
    • Clerical work as needed
    • Assist with any requests that may arise during major investigations
